Just shortly before Easter I had the chance to visit beautiful Ticino once again. A surprise for my parents planned by my aunt who all went together on this extended weekend trip. They came from Vienna by coach and I joined from Zurich and the the surprise was a full success. My parents didn’t have a clue until I jumped in front of them just outside our hotel – SURPRISE, SURPRISE 😀
I fell for Ticino’s beauty already on my first visit a few years ago. Ticino is in southern Switzerland, the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. It combines the rough Swiss beauty with a lot of Mediterranean flair. Thanks to the big lakes Lago Maggiore, Lago di Como, and Lago Lugano it also has this feeling of being by the sea.
We stayed at a hotel in Locarno, directly on the shore of Lago Maggiore. Of course we started with an extended walk around the old town of Locarno. We also visited the Locarno Camellia exhibition which showcases some amazing camellia flowers.
