Dresden has a beautiful old town. Most of the sights are in walking distance, just a short stroll from each other. I stayed in a gorgeous roof-top apartment with view onto the river Elbe about half an hour walk from the city center. As you can imagine, I did a lot of walking in these few days. The parts worth visiting are on both sides of the river. You’ll find the “Goldener Reiter” statue on one side, the Semper Opera, Zwinger and Brühl’s Terrace on the other side.
Also, a river cruise along the Elbe river is worth doing. You’ll coma along the Elbe Palaces and the Blue Wonder which is a bridge along the way.
